How do you make sure nobody gets four emails in one week? The fastest way to lose a supporter is four emails in one week, each urgent to a different department.

A contact strategy: each person receives at most 1 communication every 2 weeks, on any channel.

Sample charity: the people and numbers in these screens are made up, so the picture shows the tool, not a result.

The lesson

In the journey builder, open the menu and click Constraint Settings.

A volume constraint caps how many people enter a campaign, as a count or a percentage, per run, hour, day, week, month or year.

A contact strategy caps how often one person or household hears from you, on one channel or all of them. For example, once every two weeks.

Want a second pair of eyes? Tick Manual Approval Stop on a message step. The campaign pauses so you can check a sample, then approve or reject.

Bounces, unsubscribes and do-not-contact preferences are routed out first, on every path. Marketing templates carry their unsubscribe link automatically.
