The problem it solves

More people like your best supporters.

Why your CRM misses this. What makes your best supporters your best is spread out: gifts in the CRM, events in ticketing, shifts in the volunteer system. A model built on the CRM alone only learns from the gifts.

  • Lifetime Value How much has this supporter given in total, over their whole time with us? Group donors by total giving, and give your top lifetime givers personal thank-you calls or major gift attention.
  • Number Of Giving Years In how many different years has this supporter given? Find long-tenure supporters for legacy giving conversations and milestone recognition.
  • Giving Regularity How predictable is the timing of this supporter's gifts? Lean on Highly Consistent donors for forecasts, and ask them first about monthly giving.
  • Volunteer Donor Status Does this supporter volunteer, give, do both, or neither? See which volunteers also give, and build campaigns that turn volunteers into donors.

Audience: Look-alikes of Your Best Supporters

People already on your file who most resemble your best supporters, scored by Orbit’s Find Look-alikes on the variables your administrator chooses. The seed group is excluded, so every name is someone new to target.

What to do: Start with the highest scores. Invite them into a cultivation journey and upload them as a matched audience.

Activate: the journey

Each step names when it happens and the channel it uses. Under the steps is the campaign as it is built in Orbit, in 2 parts. Read them in order. Then how the schedule is set up.

  1. Monthly

    Journey logic

Your best supporters become the seed audience, refreshed every month.

  2. Monthly

    Look-alike model

Orbit’s Find Look-alikes scores everyone else on your file by how closely they resemble the seed, and takes the top names.

  3. Week 1

    Email

Look-alikes already on your file get a cultivation email and an event invitation.

  4. Week 1

    Google + Meta Ads

The same look-alikes go to Google and Meta as matched audiences.

  5. Week 1

    LinkedIn Ads

Matched look-alikes see your leadership story on LinkedIn.

  6. Monthly

    Meta Ads

Meta also builds a 1 to 2% lookalike from the seed to reach people not yet on your file, with existing supporters excluded.

  7. On sign-up

    Email + form

New people land on a sign-up or donation form, then move into The First 90 Days.

  • The seed group is excluded from its own look-alikes, so every name is someone new to target.

Learn: what flows back

Every look-alike carries a “more like this” score, so you can see which score bands actually gave and decide how many names to take next month.

Results land on the same supporter record, so the next run starts from what just happened.
