The problem it solves

Loyal supporters thanked all year.

Why your CRM misses this. Stewardship often runs from a separate spreadsheet: who got a card, who got a call, who wants to be recognized and how. Kept apart from the gift history, nobody sees the whole year a supporter actually had.

Analyze: who it finds

  • Donor Development Stage Which stage of the donor journey is this supporter in right now? Build a journey for each stage, with a welcome for New donors, deeper asks for Developing, and recognition for Loyal.
  • Number Of Giving Years In how many different years has this supporter given? Find long-tenure supporters for legacy giving conversations and milestone recognition.
  • Consecutive Giving Streak How many gifts in a row has this supporter made on their usual rhythm? Treat longer streaks as a sign of a deeply embedded giving habit.
  • Tenure Score Has this supporter given across several different years? Treat long-tenure donors as strong candidates for a legacy giving conversation.
  • Last Event Attended When did this supporter last attend an event? Check it before a phone call or meeting as a quick note on their latest event.

Activate: the journey

Each step names when it happens and the channel it uses. Under the steps is the campaign as it is built in Orbit, in 2 parts. Read them in order.

  1. Month 1

    Email

An update tied to the campaign they gave to.

  2. Month 3

    WhatsApp or SMS

A short thank-you on WhatsApp or SMS, where they have opted in.

  3. Month 6

    Direct mail

    A printed thank-you card.

  4. Month 9

    Email

An invitation to an event, prioritising anyone who hasn’t been to one recently.

  5. Month 12

    Call list

On the anniversary of their first gift, a call from your team. Loyal supporters get the legacy conversation.

  • Interaction splits keep anyone who unsubscribes or bounces out of later steps.
