Legacy motivations

Campaign journey in Apteco Orbit

How do you talk about legacies to people who have pledged one, and to people who have not, without mixing them up? Legacy givers want to be remembered, not asked. A yearly loop with an exit check does exactly that.

What it does

Legacy giving is slow and personal. This journey keeps pledgers in a gentle yearly loop and gives everyone else a path to the idea.

Legacy motivations starts from Active supporters and splits on Legacy pledgers.

  1. Legacy (pledgers) get Legacy importance, then the Legacy recurring comms loop: Repeating annually, with a Still legacy pledger? split each year so someone who withdraws a pledge exits cleanly.
  2. Everyone Else gets The great work we do, a week later Our work lives on, then after 5 days an Interaction Split, Engagement check: a click earns Legacy lives on, everyone else gets Impact report and then Guardians of our cause. Each path redirects into the yearly loop.

Where it fits

The audiences and pathways this journey works with, and how to build journeys like it.

Learn to build it

You need a legacy pledger flag on the Supporters table for the first split; if you don't record pledges yet, that is the data to start collecting. Write the pledger emails as thanks, never as asks. Once a year is enough. The non-pledger branch is where the legacy conversation starts, so keep its emails about the work, not the will.
